I remember my grandmother would sing love songs to teach the importance of being girls and to teach the importance of respect. It is my hope that the grandparents teachings will come back to our people and this can happen by learning the language and teaching the language. The grandparents played a crucial role in the lives of the children it was through the grandparents that the sacred teachings were introduced. Furthermore, it was the grandmothers who taught young girls how to prepare things such as smoked fish and basket weaving to name only but a few. The grandmothers also taught us the importance of family and loving children as the following video clip will demonstrate.
