The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) employs more than 150 Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in small and medium-sized communities across Vancouver Island.

Our dedicated staff delivers a wide range of services to 14 Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations, including health care, educational support, child and family services, community news reporting…and much more.

Community Health Nurse (West Coast)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a term (backfill), full-time Registered
Nurse to provide Community Health Nursing services to individuals living in the
community of Ahousaht.
Our Nursing services follow the Nuu-chah-nulth Nursing framework that ensures culturally
safe, relational, reflective and trauma informed Nursing Practice.
This position is based out of Tofino, and it will be for a three-to-five-month term starting
July 15th, 2024.

Early Years Outreach Worker

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s Child & Youth Services Department is seeking a permanent, full-time Early Years Outreach Worker. This position is a key resource to support families (prenatally, postnatally and with children 0 - 18) in meeting their child’s health, developmental, social, and emotional goals; and strengthening the parent’s confidence and skills in parenting. Based out of Port Alberni, the Early Years Outreach Worker will do home visits with parents to address concerns regarding child development. Travel by vehicle, boat, and airplane is required for this position.

Clinical Counsellor (Gold River)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC), Teechuktl (Mental Health) Program is seeking a
permanent, full-time Teechuktl Clinical Counsellor to provide individual counselling for
individuals or families in NTC’s Northern Region (Gold River). Based out of the NTC’s Gold River
office, this position would best suit someone who can provide counselling services that promotes
individual and community wellness through a balance of Quu’asa (First Nation people) values and
trauma-based clinical methods. This position requires travel into remote communities (including
on gravel road).

individuals or families in NTC’s Northern Region (Ehattesaht and Nuchatlaht areas). Based out of
Zeballos, this position would best suit someone who can provide counselling services that
promotes individual and community wellness through a balance of Quu’asa (First Nation people)
values and trauma-based clinical methods. This position requires travel into remote communities
(including on gravel road).

Ha-Shilth-Sa Reporter (Term)

The Nuu-Chah-Nulth Tribal Council’s Ha-Shilth-Sa Newspaper is seeking a term, full-time Reporter who can provide dedicated news coverage and the writing of stories that matter to First Nations and the general public. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong work ethic, and with a working knowledge of journalism in social media. Based out of Port Alberni, Tofino, or Ucluelet, this is a term position to March 31, 2027.

Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council Bridging Director of Finance

The Bridging Director of Finance will work directly with the Director of Finance. The successful candidate will be given a thorough orientation to all aspects of the tribal council financial responsibilities with the intention that the successful candidate will transition to into the role of Director of Finance. The successful incumbent will be expected to develop and administer all aspects of financial services including budget preparation, coordination of the annual audit, supporting strategic decision-making, financial reporting (provincial and federal), management of the Finance team staff, and other related functions.

Tlu-piich Games Coordinator

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic person of Aboriginal descent to serve as the 2024 Tlu-piich Games Coordinator. This term, full-time position involves overseeing all aspects of the Tlu-piich Games that will be held August 2024, for up to 3 - 4 days. Exact dates to be determined by Coordinator. Usma Youth Services Team Leader

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council is seeking a full-time, permanent Usma Youth Services Team
Leader. This is a delegated position, responsible to coordinate services that reflect the needs of a
large youth population including at risk youth ages 13-27 and provide consultation and direction
to the Usma Youth Services team. The Team Leader will work collaboratively with Nuu-chah-nulth
communities to identify specific needs of youth and assist in the coordination of activities and
training supports needed to ensure the development of Youth Services. This position is based out
of Port Alberni. Travel (vehicle, boat, and airplane) is required for this position.

Director of Education, Training & Social Development

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a dynamic highly organized and skilled leader to serve as Director of Education, Training & Social Development. This position is responsible for the overall direction of department programs and ensures effective day-to-day operations. Based out of Port Alberni, the Director of Education, Training & Social Development will supervise a team of managers for two service delivery programs: Nuu-chah-nulth Employment/Training and Social Development, in addition to overseeing day-to-day operations of Education. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding, respect and cultural understanding of the history of First Nations in relations to education, employment, and social development.

Case Manager

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council is seeking a term (to March 31, 2025), full-time Case Manager to
work in the Nuu-chah-nulth Employment and Training Program (NETP). Main area of service is
Kyuquot, Cheklesahht, & Nuchatlaht. The Case Manager is directly involved in the process of
employment case management and supporting individuals with achieving their employment and
training goals. This position would suit an individual who has passion to help others achieve new
goals and opportunities.

Resource Social Worker (Out of Care)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Usma Family and Child Services (F&CS) is seeking an experienced, delegated Social Worker to fill a permanent, full-time Out of Care Resource Social Worker position. Based at the Port Alberni Usma F&CS office, this social worker will be part of the Usma Resource Team, and will work collaboratively with other social workers, Nations, and families. This is a C6 Delegation preferred position. Travel (by vehicle, boat, and airplane, depending on caseload) is required for this position.
