Our dedicated staff delivers a wide range of services to 14 Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations, including health care, educational support, child and family services, community news reporting…and much more.

First Nation Advocate Nurse

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Nursing Department is seeking a permanent full-time First Nation Advocate Nurse (FNAN). This specialized position will assist Indigenous patients with their hospitalization. The FNAN will contribute to the delivery of culturally safe care for Indigenous patients and their families through their interactions with physicians and admission/discharge planners. This permanent position is based out of Port Alberni and will work in collaboration with NTC Nursing in ensuring quality health care services to all Indigenous patients.

Family Wellness Worker

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council Usma Family & Child Services (F&CS) is seeking a qualified person to fill a permanent, full-time Family Wellness Worker position. Based out of the Usma F&CS office in Port Alberni, this position works within the F&CS program to provide culturally sensitive support to children, youth, and families. Travel will be required with this position.

Harm Reduction Outreach Nurse

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a Harm Reduction Outreach Nurse to provide an
advanced level of expertise and guidance to Nuu-chah-nulth persons struggling with addictions, at
risk of harm or require healing from substance use. This position will provide direct nursing support
with a focus on the activity of RN/RPN prescribing of opiate agonist treatment and addressing the
toxic drug crisis. This position is based out of the NTC Southern Region office (Port Alberni), and
requires travel (by vehicle, gravel roads, boat, float plane and helicopter) into 14 communities.

Quu’asa Cultural Support Worker

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council/Teechuklt (Mental Health Program) is seeking a term (to March 31, 2025), full-time Quu’asa Cultural Support Worker to provide culturally based support to Southern Region and Northern Region individuals, families and communities. Based out of Port Alberni, this position would be best suited for someone who has a desire to provide mental wellness and cultural healing in a culturally safe environment.

Regional Coordinator (NETP)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a term (to March 31, 2025), full-time Regional Coordinator to work with the Nuu-chah-nulth Employment and Training Program (NETP). The Regional Coordinator will develop employment training resources for each Nuu-chah-nulth geographic region (north, central, south and urban). This is predominantly a remote position but will also deliver training in the remote communities of Kyuquot, Cheklesaht, Ehattesaht, and Nuchatlaht.

Caregiver Support Worker (Usma F&CS)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a dynamic and culturally grounded individual to serve as a Caregiver Support Worker with Usma Family and Child Services Resource Team. Based out of Port Alberni, this permanent, full-time position works directly with Usma caregivers to provide support to them in meeting the emotional, physical, spiritual and cultural needs of the Nuu-chah-nulth children in their care. Travel is an essential part of this position.

Connections Worker

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a dynamic and culturally grounded individual as a Connections Worker with Usma Family & Child Services (F&CS). This term (to July 2025), full-time position will work alongside Social Workers with the family and community to ensure the care, planning, and well-being of children and youth in care. Travel out to the 14 Nuu-chah-nulth nations is necessary with this work. Based out of Port Alberni, this position is supervised by the Guardianship Team Leader.

Chaputs Program Coordinator

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a qualified professional to serve as the Chaputs Program Coordinator with Usma Family & Child Services (F&CS). This permanent, full-time position is responsible for programming and delivery of activities and scheduling for the program. This position will lead in the delivery of Nuu-chah-nulth based teachings specific to the chaputs. The Chaputs Program Coordinator will work alongside Usma F&CS staff, the 14 Nuu-chah-nulth Nations, Elders, and others to promote program opportunities. Based out of Port Alberni, this position reports to the Director of Usma F&CS.

GIS Technician 2

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Capital Program provides services to our 14 member first Nations around Community Infrastructure and Housing. The specific service areas are community infrastructure planning, major and minor capital project delivery, public works operations and maintenance and asset management, and housing planning/project delivery. NTC Capital is seeking a qualified full-time Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician 2. The GIS Technician 2 will work in coordination with the GIS Technician 1 in the compilation and analyses of GIS data. The GIS Technician 2 will assist with designing, developing, and implementing systems and databases to access and store geospatial data directly related to municipal water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation networks, buildings, housing and emergency planning and management. This position will analyze data utilizing mapping software to read and interpret maps and other GIS data and to compile reports. This position will create programing and operational code, enter information into the GIS database, design customized digital maps using geospatial data and analyze spatial and non-spatial information. This position is based out of the NTC Southern Region office (Port Alberni), and requires travel (by vehicle, boat, and airplane) into communities.

Resource Social Worker (Out of Care)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Usma Family and Child Services (F&CS) is seeking an experienced, delegated Social Worker to fill a permanent, full-time Out of Care Resource Social Worker position. Based at the Port Alberni Usma F&CS office, this social worker will be part of the Usma Resource Team, and will work collaboratively with other social workers, Nations, and families. This is a C6 Delegation preferred position. Travel (by vehicle, boat, and airplane, depending on caseload) is required for this position. Clinical Counsellor (Zeballos)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC), Teechuktl (Mental Health) Program is seeking a permanent, full-time Teechuktl Clinical Counsellor to provide individual counselling for individuals or families in NTC’s Northern Region (Ehattesaht and Nuchatlaht areas). Based out of Zeballos, this position would best suit someone who can provide counselling services that promotes individual and community wellness through a balance of Quu’asa (First Nation people) values and trauma-based clinical methods. This position requires travel into remote communities (including on gravel road).
