The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) employs more than 150 Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in small and medium-sized communities across Vancouver Island.

Our dedicated staff delivers a wide range of services to 14 Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations, including health care, educational support, child and family services, community news reporting…and much more.

First Nation Advocate Nurse

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Nursing Department is seeking a permanent full-
time First Nation Advocate Nurse (FNAN). This specialized position will assist Indigenous
patients with their hospitalization. The FNAN will contribute to the delivery of culturally
safe care for Indigenous patients and their families through their interactions with
physicians and admission/discharge planners. This permanent position is based out of
Port Alberni and will work in collaboration with NTC Nursing in ensuring quality health
care services to all Indigenous patients.

Program Coordinator (Term)

Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a term (to March 31, 2025 – with the possibility of an extension),
full-time Pre-employment Supports (PES) Coordinator. Along with program coordination activities, the PES
Program Coordinator provides case management support to Social Development Workers’ client services. Based
out of Port Alberni, this position is under the supervision of the Manager of Social Development, within the NTC’s
Education, Training, and Social Development Department.

Caregiver Support Worker (Usma)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a dynamic and culturally grounded individual to be a Caregiver Support Worker (CSW) with Usma Family and Child Services Resource Team. Based out of Port Alberni, this permanent, full-time position works directly with Usma kinship and foster caregivers by travelling out to communities and visiting with caregivers, providing connection to resources that might help with challenges they are facing, and ensuring that they are being heard. The CSW spends time in community connecting with people who are interested in opening their homes to provide care and safety for children whose families are needing extra support in addressing household issues and concerns that affect the children in the home. The CSW supports connection for children with their home community and keeping children and youth in their Nation through both connections and placements with family and community.

Chaputs Program Coordinator

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a qualified professional to serve as the Chaputs Program Coordinator with Usma Family & Child Services (F&CS). This permanent, full-time position is responsible for programming and delivery of activities and scheduling for the program. This position will lead in the delivery of Nuu-chah-nulth based teachings specific to the chaputs. The Chaputs Program Coordinator will work alongside Usma F&CS staff, the 14 Nuu-chah-nulth Nations, Elders, and others to promote program opportunities. Based out of Port Alberni, this position reports to the Director of Usma F&CS.

Harm Reduction Outreach Worker

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s Teechuktl (Mental Health) Program is seeking a term, full-time Harm Reduction Outreach Worker to provide culturally based support to all Nuu-chah-nulth Region individuals, families, and communities, with an emphasis of providing support to First Nations people involved in high-risk lifestyles.
Based out of Port Alberni (travel to West Coast and Northern regions are required) this position will communicate with various service providers and coordinate activities to support wellness and healing within a culturally safe framework. This position will work evenings and weekends and provide outreach support to Nuu-chah-nulth clients away from home as well as in community.

NETP Case Manager

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council is seeking a term (to March 31, 2025), full-time Case Manager to
work in the Nuu-chah-nulth Employment and Training Program (NETP). Main area of service is
Kyuquot, Cheklesahht, & Nuchatlaht. The Case Manager is directly involved in the process of
employment case management and supporting individuals with achieving their employment and
training goals. This position would suit an individual who has passion to help others achieve new
goals and opportunities.

Clinical Counsellor (Zeballos)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC), Teechuktl (Mental Health) Program is seeking a permanent, full-time Teechuktl Clinical Counsellor to provide individual counselling for individuals or families in NTC’s Northern Region (Ehattesaht and Nuchatlaht areas). Based out of Zeballos, this position would best suit someone who can provide counselling services that promotes individual and community wellness through a balance of Quu’asa (First Nation people) values and trauma-based clinical methods. This position requires travel into remote communities (including on gravel road).
