The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) employs more than 150 Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in small and medium-sized communities across Vancouver Island.

Regional Fisheries Biologist

Uu-a-thluk, the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Fisheries Program, is seeking an experienced Fisheries Biologist to work with Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations in an exciting and challenging environment. The permanent, full-time position supports the fisheries programs of the four Nuu-chah-nulth Nations in the NTC’s Northern Region and works with management and technical staff of federal and provincial governments and organizations. The successful applicant will assist Nuu-chah-nulth Nations to achieve objectives for increased participation in fisheries harvest and management, and improved management of fisheries resources and habitat. The position supports the development and implementation of Aboriginal rights-based fisheries flowing from the Ahousaht et al decision to increase Nuu-chah-nulth economic fisheries access as well as the Nations’ Food and Ceremonial fisheries. The assessment of salmon, shellfish and other marine resources provide opportunities for biological field work.
The NTC represents 14 Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The position is based in Gold River, BC.

Clinical Counsellor (Gold River and Area)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC), Teechuktl (Mental Health) Program is seeking a permanent, full-time Teechuktl Clinical Counsellor to provide individual counselling for individuals or families in NTC’s Northern Region (Gold River and other remote areas). Based out of the NTC’s Gold River office, this position would best suit someone who can provide counselling services that promotes individual and community wellness through a balance of Quu’asa (First Nation people) values and trauma-based clinical methods.

Manager of Child & Youth Services

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council is looking for an experienced manager who can serve as a permanent, full-time Manager of Child and Youth Services. Based out of Port Alberni and reporting to the Director of Health, this position oversees the efficiency and effectiveness of its programs and ensures that the needs of Nuu-chah-nulth children, youth and their caregivers are being supported.

Employment Subsidy Program Coordinator

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a full-time, term (to March 31, 2022 with the possibility of an extension) Employment Subsidy Program Coordinator. Based out of Port Alberni, this position is part of the Social Development and Nuu-chah-nulth Employment Training Program (NETP) teams. Duties include coordinating quality mentored work placements & related training opportunities for eligible Nuu-chah-nulth youth aged 18-30, women, and persons with disabilities. This position will have responsibilities with NETP and Income Assistance First Nations Youth Employment Strategy (IAFNYES) programs. Travel (by vehicle, boat, and airplane, depending on caseload) is required for this position.

IAFNYES Employment Subsidy Program Coordinator

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) is seeking a full-time, term Income Assistance First Nation Youth Employment Strategy (IAFNYES) Employment Subsidy Program Coordinator. Based out of Port Alberni, this position is part of the Social Development team. Duties include coordinating quality IAFNYES mentored work placements & related training opportunities for eligible Nuu-chah-nulth youth aged 18-30 who are Income Assistance recipients. This position will have responsibilities with the Income Assistance First Nations Youth Employment Strategy (IAFNYES) program. Post-Secondary Counsellor

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s Education, Training & Social Development Department is seeking a permanent, full-time Post-Secondary Counsellor to provide advisory support to eligible students interested in accessing Post-Secondary Education funding. Based out of Port Alberni, this position supports eligible students in the funding application processes based on the NTC Post-Secondary Funding Policy and Procedures for enrolment into eligible post-secondary programs and institutions.

Teechuktl MMIWG Family Support Worker

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Teechuktl Program is seeking a 0.6 FTE (22.5 hours per week) Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Family Support Worker to provide support to families of Nuu-chah-nulth MMIWG. Based out of Tofino, this unique position will assist families affected by the issue of missing women and girls and will coordinate activities to support wellness and healing within a culturally safe framework. Travel (by vehicle, boat, and airplane) is required for this position.

Accounting Analyst (Finance)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Finance Department is looking for a permanent, full-time Accounting Analyst to perform a variety of specialized finance department duties. Based at the NTC main office in Port Alberni, this position will perform data analysis, statistical reporting, accounting process reviews, and assist with data entry, coding, statement reconciliation, and report generation.
