The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) employs more than 150 Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in small and medium-sized communities across Vancouver Island.

Our dedicated staff delivers a wide range of services to 14 Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations, including health care, educational support, child and family services, community news reporting…and much more.

Recruiting: Casual Nuu-chah-nulth Education Workers

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Education Department is searching for casual term position (backfill) of qualified individual interested in work assignment as a Nuu-chah-nulth Education Worker, for Ucluelet Secondary School. This casual work supports students at the K to Grade 12 level; culturally, socially and academically, in accordance with the NTC Education Department’s mandate. As a casual Nuu-chah-nulth Education Worker, you may be called on to backfill for a day or for terms lasting several weeks. The Education Worker is under the general supervision of the NTC Education Cultural Development Supervisor and under general day-to-day supervision of the principal within the school.

Harm Reduction Outreach Worker (Tofino)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s Teechuktl (Mental Health) Program is seeking a term, full-time Harm Reduction Outreach Worker to provide culturally based support to Nuu-chah-nulth Central Region individuals, families, and communities, with an emphasis of providing support to First Nations people involved in high-risk lifestyles. Based out of Tofino this position will communicate with various service providers and coordinate activities to support wellness and healing within a culturally safe framework. This position will work evenings and weekends to provide outreach support to Nuu-chah-nulth clients away from home as well as in community.

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s Teechuktl (Mental Health) Program is seeking a two (2) term, full-time Harm Reduction Outreach Workers to provide culturally based support to Nuu-chah-nulth Central Region individuals, families, and communities, with an emphasis of providing support to First Nations people involved in high-risk lifestyles. Based out of Port Alberni this position will communicate with various service providers and coordinate activities to support wellness and healing within a culturally safe framework. This position will work evenings and weekends to provide outreach support to Nuu-chah-nulth clients away from home as well as in community.

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s Teechuktl (Mental Health) Program is seeking a casual Harm Reduction Outreach Worker (available for a variety of shifts on-call) to provide culturally based support to Nuu-chah-nulth Southern Region individuals, families, and communities, with an emphasis of providing support to First Nations people involved in high-risk lifestyles. Based out of Port Alberni this position will communicate with various service providers and coordinate activities to support wellness and healing within a culturally safe framework. Hours and shifts may vary – days, evenings, or weekends to provide outreach support to Nuu-chah-nulth clients away from home as well as in community.

Clinical Counsellor (Gold River)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC), Teechuktl (Mental Health) Program is seeking a permanent, full-time Teechuktl Clinical Counsellor to provide individual counselling for individuals or families in NTC’s Northern Region (Gold River). Based out of the NTC’s Gold River office, this position would best suit someone who can provide counselling services that promotes individual and community wellness through a balance of Quu’asa (First Nation people) values and trauma-based clinical methods. This position requires travel into remote communities (including on gravel road).

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC), Teechuktl (Mental Health) Program is seeking a permanent, full-time Teechuktl Clinical Counsellor to provide individual counselling for individuals or families in NTC’s Northern Region (Ehattesaht and Nuchatlaht areas). Based out of Zeballos, this position would best suit someone who can provide counselling services that promotes individual and community wellness through a balance of Quu’asa (First Nation people) values and trauma-based clinical methods. This position requires travel into remote communities (including on gravel road).

Research Associate Lead (I-HeLTI)

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Health Department is seeking a term, full-time Research Associate Lead for its Indigenous Healthy Life Trajectories Initiative (I-HeLTI) Project, based out of Port Alberni. The project applies traditional Nuu-chah-nulth knowledge to inform activities and to reclaim positive pathways for promoting and sustaining healthy child development. The I-HeLTI Research Associate Lead will provide scientific leadership and liaise between NTC (NTC team members, Elders, communities, service providers) and academic partners (extended academic team). The role interprets and understands the research interests and priorities of the individuals and groups working within the I-HeLTI Project. To meet project goals, the I-HeLTI Project team will use both Indigenous knowledge and scientific methods to measure the wellbeing of children and families over time.

Clinical Nurse Leader

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council is seeking a permanent, full-time Clinical Nurse Leader to provide professional nursing guidance and support to nurses working in the Southern NTC Region. Based in Port Alberni, this position will support and guide nurses to deliver professional, ethical, culturally safe, team based, and responsible care based on the Nuu-chah-nulth Nursing framework.

Janitorial Services — Gold River, Contract

The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council is receiving applications from reliable community members to perform janitorial services for the Gold River Office. The Janitor will be responsible for keeping the NTC building office spaces, clean and orderly. Duties include emptying waste buckets, cleaning walls, doorknobs, windows, floors, stocking, disinfecting restrooms and kitchen area. Notifying management of the need for major repairs, clean front office entrance doorway. The contract is renewed each April 1st, at which time quality of service is reviewed.
