National Child Benefit Reinvestment Program (Proposal Based Funding)
Participating Nations can apply for funding to provide community-based supports and services for low-income children and families living on-reserve.
The program aims to reduce the effects of child poverty and remove barriers that prevent parents and guardians from entering and remaining in the workforce.
Funding is provided through Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development’s (AANDC) National Child Benefit Reinvestment program.
Examples of services that are offered by Nations using this funding have included:
- Childcare
- Information about child nutrition
- Support for parents
- Assistance with home-to-work transition
- Cultural enrichment
