Open Letter from Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s President Judith Sayers
On behalf of the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council, our fourteen (14) member First Nations and all of our Nuu-chah-nulth citizens, we would like to wish sincere congratulations to Cliff Atleo Jr. who received his doctorate from the University of Alberta on December 5, 2017. His dissertation was titled, Change and Continuity in the Political Economy of the Ahousaht.
Dr. Atleo received his PhD in political science from the University of Alberta. He spent a year at Yale University as a dissertation writing fellow and has taught several courses at the University of Victoria as a sessional instructor. Since last September, he has been a tenure-track faculty member of the School of Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University. Dr. Atleo intends to turn his dissertation into a book.
We feel great admiration for all the hard work and dedication you have put forward to your academic studies and to your community. We look forward to seeing all the great things you will accomplish in your future.
There is no greater honour than representing your people. You have given us great pride in your accomplishments.
